Lets talk about Porn Addiction

Blogging is great.  You get to publish your own articles, thoughts and ideas for the whole world to see.  You can find others who share similar interests, who are in similar stages in life, and who share similar struggles.  Interactivity between bloggers & readers generally is in the form of comments left after their posts.  There is generally no sense of community since these conversations happen on each individual blog and not in one general meeting place.

I blog about topics related to porn addiction and porn in today’s society.  My stance on porn is:

  1. Pornography is addictive
  2. Pornography is a misuse of God’s intentions of sex
  3. Pornography destroys marriages
  4. Pornography warps the minds of those who use it
  5. Life is better without porn

I have formed an online community in the form of a forum (or message board) for those who seek or who have already rid their lives of Pornography and sex addiction.

Battle Plan Forum - A community for those who are affected by Pornography

The Battle Plan forum is there for us to help each other face issues of sexual purity, to offer advice & encouragement, and to know we are not alone in the battle.

Ecclesiates 4:12 says:  “One person could be overpowered.  But two people can stand up for themselves. And a rope made out of three cords isn’t easily broken.”

When you have people behind you who are praying for you and offering encouragement, you can have victory over porn!  When you struggle alone with porn addiction, you are easily defeated.

Come join this community if you want freedom from porn and want to be with others in the battle.  Click on the image or the linked text next to it and Join Today!

Will HIV Slow down Porn Industry?

The news in the last week has indicated that approximately 16 actors and actresses in the California porn industry have tested positive for HIV.

The people who have surrounded the outbreak have all been quarantined from working until they are reasonable certain that they did not get HIV.  The infection can take up to two weeks to show up in blood tests.

HIV in Porn Industry

Back in 2004, there was a similar outbreak which led to the actors being made to wear condoms.  Those rules have been laxed since then because actors did not want to wear them.

I remember back in the 1980’s when the HIV & AIDS scare first appeared.  It was a death sentence then to be positive with HIV, but today there are drugs that help a person maintain a much longer life with HIV.

Will this slow the porn industry down?  I hope so.  It seems that the only way our attentions are grabbed sometimes is through adversity.  Adversity causes us to step back and ask some tough questions and try to get back to the basics.

Will the actors & actresses of the porn industry stop for a moment and ask:  Is this lifestyle worth risking my life for?  Do I want to be remembered as a porn star who died of AIDS?  Do the industry & consumers really care about what happens to me, or will they move on to the next new star and push me out?  Will my fellow actors & actresses be there for me as real friends who love and care about me?

Wake up calls usually come from adversity.  I pray that the actors and actresses of porn films will stop and reflect.  I hope that some of them decide that this is not risking my life over.  I hope they see their worth as humans made in the image of God and not objects of lust.

Prescriptions for Porn, Will your HMO cover it?

Newsweek just ran a story:  What fixes low Testosterone best: Meds or Porn?

The story brings to light the next miracle drug along the lines of Viagra – Androgel.  Androgel is supposed to raise testosterone levels in aging men, to help bring back their sex drives and love life.  That in itself is not wrong, what guy doesn’t want to keep his performance levels at their best.

The makers of Androgel are going to pitch this drug along the same lines that Viagra and all the other ED drugs do.  They will try to make low-T levels as a recognizable symptom as ED had become.  How many of you knew about ED before Viagra?  Probably not many.

Prescription for porn

This article then provides the alternative to Androgel- Porn.  Why Porn?  Research has shown that sexual activity & viewing sex acts has been shown to increase testosterone levels.  Newsweek makes the case that because porn is cheap and easily available that it is a legitimate alternative.

I must however give them credit for listing some of the downfalls of using porn, such as:  An angry wife, the chances of getting caught at work, and the chances of becoming addicted to it.

Porn as a drug.  Porn use is very similar to illicit drug use.  They euphoric feelings the user gets are very similar to those of cocaine.   They cite the statistic for becoming addicted to porn as more than one in ten users.  That is kind of vague.  More than one – are we talking two or 8 of ten users of porn become addicted?

How about this for an alternative to porn – put that energy into persuing your wife to make love regularly?  The payoff is not only in the testosterone levels, but your relationship will get better.

This article seems to be following a trend I have been seeing recently in the news.  That is the normalization of pornography.  Are the people in the news trying to push pornography into the mainstream on purpose?  I think so.

Just like gay and lesbian lifestyles have been “mainstreamed” so that those who oppose those lifestyles are considered intolerant, will Pornography come to that point as well?  I hope not.
